Fusion 360 is the first 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE tool of its kind that connects your entire product development process in a single cloud-based platform that works on PC, Mac, and mobile devices. This is a very good application you can use to create your 3D models to print on a 3D Printer or laser cut.
The first thing you need to do is to create a free educational license from Autodesk.
Burnside High School has been registered but you must use your school email. Your teacher will be able to give you evidence of your enrolment.
WARNING
The school software version does not change throughout the year. This means that if you work on a project on your home computer then the version will not be compatible with the school system and you will need to only work on it on your home computer/own device.
The first thing you need to do is to create a free educational license. All instructions here. The video above explains it.
A quick You-Tube get the students on the same page so they are looking at the same screen as the tutor. These are settings that a professional CAD person would use to set defaults. (It makes life easier...)
Ready to take your CAD skills from "drawing" to "engineering"? In this task, we are revisiting the bedroom suite project, but with a twist: Parametric Design. Instead of modeling static objects that are hard to edit, you will learn to build "smart" furniture driven by logic and variables.
By defining rules, like telling a desk drawer to always be half the total desk width. You can create designs that instantly resize and adapt without breaking. Watch the introductory video for the basic shapes, then use the instructions to apply your own parametric parameters. This is the same workflow used by professional engineers to create flexible product lines! You did a similar task in year 10 but this time you will need to use parametric modelling to allow resizing.
Don't forget to include a screenshot of your parameter list.

We use the Ultimaker Cura Printing Software. Import the Mesh file and set it up for the specific 3D Printer. At Burnside High School we use Ultimakers and Anycubic I3 Mega. This is important otherwise you can break the printer. See How to optimise Cura Support settings.
See this Beginner's Tutorial to get started with Cura.
